Citizen Card authentication using a module developed by Masterlink.

Attentive to trends and needs in the Information Systems and New Technologies market, Masterlink has developed a “Citizen Card Authentication” module. This mechanism can be applied to Public Administration websites with a restricted area that require user identification, in line with the Public Administration Interoperability Platform.

The advantages associated with this authentication model are numerous and unequivocal. These include the optimization of the registration process, as it enables the automation of form completion during registration with the necessary personal data linked to the Citizen Card – data pre-filling.

This system also offers users high levels of security and privacy, with authentication based on two inseparable factors: possession of the card (which has an authentication chip) and knowledge of the access code (PIN). Clearly safer and more efficient than authentication based on the “traditional” username and personal password, it prevents situations of vulnerability and potential “theft”.

The Citizen Card authentication module meets the requirements of the “single sign-on” concept, allowing citizens to access various interconnected public services through a single authentication, thereby promoting “one-stop shop” solutions.

This contribution translates into greater efficiency in online services, reduced bureaucracy, optimized resources, and promotion of electronic information exchange between entities. This module fits within the context of the Global Strategic Plan for ICT in Public Administration, Council of Ministers Resolution 12/2012.
