“Beat Diabetes” was the theme chosen by the World Health Organization (WHO) to celebrate World Health Day 2016, commemorated every year on April 7.
Naturally, the National Health Service was present with an event that honored neurosurgeon João Lobo Antunes and the founder of the National Health Service, António Arnaut, an occasion that saw the signing of a protocol between the DGS and the Association of Industrial and Commercial Coffee (AICC), the Association of Portuguese Sugar Refiners (ARAP), and the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar of Portugal (AHRESP), aiming for the responsible and balanced consumption of sugar.
Santa Casa da Misericórdia also marked the date, and together with the Association for the Protection of Diabetics of Portugal (APDP), launched a fight against the disease primarily from a prevention perspective, providing a mobile screening unit and nutritional counseling.
Masterlink technology in insulin pump management
With the theme of Diabetes on the table, Masterlink must mention its participation in the construction and maintenance of the management and control software for insulin pumps, allowing for cost rationalization and streamlining the process of allocating (and replacing) insulin pumps to users—with a corresponding reduction in waiting times for these patients. In this way, patients, the NHS, and ultimately taxpayers benefit from the efficiency offered by the insulin pump management process.
It should be noted that the management software was developed, and is maintained, on the Masterlink Platform, which allows for the rapid evolution of the entire process, from data modeling to the workflow and user profiles themselves, without compromising previous developments. This fact allows new requirements to be introduced in a short time (from a few minutes to a few hours), with all guarantees of reliability, and, in some cases, just a click away.
The macro-process of insulin pump management is one of many developed and maintained by Masterlink under the authority of the DGS.
