The citizen developer has become a strategy within companies as a way to drive digital transition and overcome the challenge of the shortage of technical professionals. To debate this trend and present solutions to organizations, Masterlink held the 2nd edition of Mastercoffee on the morning of Thursday, March 23.

The event took place at the EVOLUTION Lisboa Hotel. This time, the presentations were focused on the theme “Digital Transition and the Citizen Developer”.

In the first presentation, Masterlink’s Marketing and Operations Director, Nuno Rosa, spoke about the relevance of the theme to the current reality of companies and demonstrated how Masterlink technology can be fundamental to the development of this strategy.

“The demand for technological transformation is very high, which generates an immense demand for technical resources, and supply does not keep up. What Masterlink brings is a value proposition that tends to mitigate this shortage by extending this capacity for executing digital transformation, system implementation, and process automation to professionals who are not natively technological, nor prepared to perform technological implementations,” he explains.

Nuno Rosa further adds that Masterlink’s value proposition brings a “tool to increase the human supply with the capacity for digital transformation“. This increase in supply focuses on strategic vectors, one of them being the citizen developer.

A successful partnership

AWS Partner Development Manager, Francisco Chaves, presented the cloud solution offered in partnership with Masterlink. The work between the companies has ensured more agility and security in the creation of business applications with Masterlink’s no-code technology.

“We work with our partners to provide solutions for our customers, and Masterlink is an excellent example of this,” highlighted Francisco Chaves during the presentation.

Before the collaboration between the companies, the installation of the Masterlink Platform occurred on-premise, meaning the client had to have their own infrastructure and the skills to ensure the operation. Now, the technology is delivered in the cloud as PaaS (Platform as a Service), and the client has access to a complete service that includes infrastructure, software, and support in a single package.

The citizen developer in practice

Citizen Developers are users who are not IT-trained but are empowered to create business applications through technologies such as no-code platforms.

The Audit Team Leader of the Inspectorate-General of Finance (IGF), José Oliveira, presented his vision on the topic and spoke about his team’s experience using the Masterlink Platform.

José Oliveira also highlighted different advantages in using the technology, such as: integration with the website and email; plasticity; learning curve; independence for the IGF and users; resource savings; and reduction in implementation and deployment time for users.

Mastercoffee is an event held by Masterlink in partnership with AWS. Guests from various public and private organizations were present. Other editions of the event are expected to take place later this year.
