Another edition of Mastercoffee took place, the event that brings together experts and companies to discuss crucial topics in the area of Digital Transition. The meeting, which once again took place at the Evolution Lisboa Hotel, focused on the importance of compliance in the digital era, under the theme “Digital Transition: Compliance, a matter (of) practice.” After an initial moment of reception, networking, and exchange of ideas among those present, presentations began by the four confirmed speakers.
Processes and compliance in the digital era
João Fernandes, partner at OnGlobal, began the presentations with “Processes & Compliance: complexity or opportunity?”. In this presentation, the executive explored the dualities of compliance in business processes, questioning whether it represents additional complexity or an opportunity for improvement and innovation. Fernandes highlighted that “over the years, the regulatory burden has increased significantly, and today it is greater than ever, as transparency and ethics are increasingly valued directives.” He warned that companies that do not comply with regulations face serious fines and reputational damage, but according to the executive, “compliance can be seen as an opportunity, and there must also be a balance between compliance and productivity.”
Vilma Franco, Head of Digital Transformation Solutions at OnGlobal, also participated in this keynote, emphasizing the efficient implementation and periodic monitoring of business processes. The manager mentioned that “fraud, cybercrime, ESG, geopolitical pressures, and increased regulation are some of the dangers at the compliance level.” The presence of AI in daily life has a significant impact on the area of fraud, and the disruption of processes can be achieved internally, provided there is an open channel of communication with teams and deep knowledge of the company’s processes. Vilma Franco reinforced that “technological support is essential and must be agile enough to adapt to the growing demands at the compliance level.”
Compliance with the Masterlink Platform
This was followed by Nuno Rosa, Marketing and Operations Director at Masterlink, who presented the panel “Masterlink: technology for Digital Transition.” The manager highlighted how technology can be a crucial facilitator in the digital transition of companies. He stated that AI “will accompany us naturally, and will affect topics such as ethics and cybersecurity.” However, he noted, “it will also bring benefits.” “Masterlink has been taking steps towards the integration of AI into its technology, but this has been done in a very considered, well-planned, and tested way, so that it is completely secure.” The director of Masterlink explained: “We have improved the Masterlink Platform to keep up with the evolution of market needs, allowing non-technological companies to make the digital transition without needing specialized technological resources, thus ensuring compliance, all without having to worry about infrastructure, as it is all cloud-based.”
Security and compliance in the AWS cloud
Francisco Chaves, partner manager at AWS in Portugal, presented the session “Masterlink and AWS: a successful partnership,” in which he detailed how the collaboration between AWS and Masterlink has been essential for the development of effective solutions that support digital transition and guarantee compliance with standards. Francisco Chaves mentioned that “compliance is a necessary evil, and technology helps a lot by freeing people and companies from this need.” AWS holds numerous certifications, the most relevant being ISO and GDPR compliance, in addition to being aligned with the public administration’s cloud strategy. Specifically for Portugal, AWS achieved a GNS certification, reaching the “National Restricted Information” level. Francisco Chaves also made a point of underlining that the Masterlink Platform is certified by AWS, a company that is very demanding in its certification. The Masterlink platform was successful in all tests of the Well-Architected Framework, which brings together AWS best practices in terms of Cost Optimization, Operational Excellence, Performance Efficiency, Resilience, Security, and Sustainability.
Discussion panel
The event culminated with a discussion panel where the speakers answered questions from the audience, providing a space for clarification and debate on the challenges and opportunities of compliance in the digital transition.
Mastercoffee stood out once again as an essential event for the discussion and sharing of knowledge about digital transition. The edition focused on compliance underlined the importance of a practical and integrated approach, where technology and regulation go hand in hand to ensure the success of companies in the digital era. Masterlink continues to assert itself as a leader in the area of digital transition, demonstrating through these events its commitment to innovation and continuous support for its partners and customers.
