The Directorate-General for Consumer Affairs has launched a guide of rules and good practices, which explains in a “simple, clear and educational” way how the advertising code applies to digital channels, aimed mainly at influencers and advertisers.
The aim is to translate some of the most relevant provisions of the advertising code into simple, accessible language. According to the DGC, forms of communication on digital channels present far-reaching challenges that require a high level of awareness, hence the need for a guide that clarifies the most important provisions.
The Secretary of State for Consumer Protection also noted that the guide covers areas that address all kinds of questions, regardless of the situation. It also includes specific points on publications, covering topics such as credit, health, and alcoholic beverages aimed at minors.
Significant investment has been made to foster growing awareness and empowerment among citizens and economic agents regarding compliance with the advertising code.
The Directorate-General for Consumer Affairs is a public body under the Ministry of Economy that implements consumer protection policy in Portugal through information and awareness initiatives across various sectors.
Within the Directorate-General for Consumer Affairs, Masterlink’s no-code technology from Masterlink plays a particularly important role on the Directorate-General for Consumer Affairs website and the CEC website. In addition to serving as digital communication channels, they enhance interaction with citizens and economic agents, ensuring a high level of operational efficiency for the organization.
